The brief

Kunjikkas serves Malabar food in Al Karama, Dubai: slow-cooked biryani, hand-pressed pathiri, fresh juices and karak chai. The site had to feel like the food, warm and homely, and it had to work for someone deciding what to order on their phone.

What I built

  • A deep green and gold design that takes its cue from Kerala, with a little Malayalam in the headings for regulars who’ll recognise it.
  • A menu with real dishes and prices in dirhams, crowd favourites up front, and the full list one tap away.
  • A gallery, the cafe’s story, and a phone number you can tap to call from any page.
  • Built with React and Vite, so it loads quickly even on a weak mobile connection.

The detail I cared about

Restaurant sites are mostly opened by someone hungry, on a phone, standing somewhere. Everything that matters, what’s on the menu, what it costs and how to get there, is reachable with a thumb.
