Koyla
A loud, charcoal-and-red website for a shawarma brand that grew from one street cart into six-plus outlets across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
The brief
Koyla makes charcoal-cooked shawarma, rolls and loaded fries. It started as a single green cart with room for ten people in October 2021, and it’s now six-plus outlets across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The brand is loud, smoky and community-driven, and the site needed to feel the same.
What I built
- A big, condensed type system in black, cream and coal red, so the site reads like the brand’s street signage, not a template.
- Crowd favourites with real prices in rupees up front, from the ₹90 signature coal shawarma to the loaded fries, with the full menu one tap away.
- The story from one cart to six-plus outlets as a timeline, plus the open-kitchen process in three steps: carved off the coal, built in front of you, rolled and handed over.
- An outlet finder with addresses and opening hours for each location, so the next step after “I’m hungry” is directions.
- Social proof where it counts: the Zomato rating, the Instagram following, and real customer feedback.
- Seasonal sections like the Iftaar boxes, which link straight to ordering on Instagram, where the brand already takes orders.
Built with React and Vite, so it stays quick on a phone in a busy street.
Where it is now
This is a preview build I designed and developed for Koyla. Food photos carry the whole page on a site like this, so most of the polish went into how the images load and how the page holds up on a phone.
