Foliox
A specimen ID card generator for testing and QA. Fictional, clearly watermarked cards in every Indian state language, exported to PDF.
Why it exists
Anyone building KYC screens, document upload flows or OCR in India needs sample ID cards to test with. Using real people’s documents for that is a privacy problem. Foliox generates fictional ones instead.
How it works
- Every identity is made up: name, number, address and date of birth are generated, and you can re-roll or shuffle them.
- Cards render in the regional script of every Indian state, so you can test how your app handles more than English.
- Each card is visibly marked as a specimen, and the numbers can’t pass real validation.
- Previews are blurred and watermarked, and hidden from screenshots, until you sign in to generate.
- Export the front, the back or both to PDF.
The stack
A React frontend with a Node.js server behind nginx on my own machine. PDF export runs in the browser, so generated cards never need to be stored.
